Welcome to Pen Time.  The goal of this blog is to help those individuals who will be entering Federal Prison for the first time.  The entries are written by an inmate who is currently serving an approximately three year sentence at a low security facility in New Jersey.

The blog posts are the writer’s letters written to his therapy group members to help those who will ultimately be going to prison learn about what life is like inside a federal prison and to help them prepare for their period of incarceration.

In order to protect the confidentiality of the group members and the writer of these letters, all names will be removed from the letters. Additionally, any elements of the letters that may identify either the writer or group members will be removed.

It is the goal of the writer of these letters to create a “101” type informational post that provides insight to all men (and women) who may be facing federal incarceration.  State and county jails and prison are different entities and any advice the writer provides here may not apply.

Should this blog ever become monetized or generate any revenue of any kind, all proceeds will be donated to charities that protect children from sexual abuse and sex trafficking at the request of the letter writer.

Also, please note, I am not the writer of these letters/blogs.  I am simply the person putting them out to the internet.  I take no responsibility for their content.  Information provided here is not ever meant to replace the guidance of an attorney or the United States Bureau of Prisons, who does provide a guidebook for each Federal Prison that is available on their website.
